What this value means
14 statutory non-working days each year. NO WEEKEND SUBSTITUTION, and this is confirmed from the statute itself: članak 4 provides that if one of the listed days falls on a Sunday, a blagdan or another non-working day, it is NOT transferred to the following day. Four days are lost to weekends in 2026 and six in 2027. The 2019 Act moved Statehood Day from 25 June to 30 MAY - 25 June is no longer a holiday at all - and added 18 November as Remembrance Day, while retaining 22 June and 5 August. Note the 2027 ordering: Corpus Christi on 27 May precedes Statehood Day on 30 May. NOT LISTED: 3 May (Dan sjećanja na ubijenu i stradalu djecu u Domovinskom ratu), added by Narodne novine 72/2025 in force 2025-05-01, is a spomendan (memorial day) only and is NOT a non-working day. Also not listed: članak 3 grants members of specified religious communities an individual right to a non-working day for their own feasts - Julian-calendar Christmas on 7 January, Julian Easter Monday, one day each for Ramazanski and Kurban Bajram, and one day each for Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah - which are individual entitlements rather than general public holidays.
