Denmark Late-payment interest (morarente)

Denmark Late-payment interest (morarente) is 10 percent, in force since 1 Jul 2026. Last checked against the official source on 10 Aug 2026.

Denmark's statutory default interest under renteloven § 5: the Nationalbank's official udlånsrente as at 1 January / 1 July plus 8 percentage points — 10.00% for the second half of 2026. Set periodically rather than derived, because the statutory reference is not the policy-rate series this API holds.

What this value means

One morarente for civil and commercial claims alike: the Nationalbank's official UDLÅNSRENTE snapshotted each 1 January and 1 July, plus 8 percentage points (§ 5 stk. 2 bars the minister from setting the supplement below 8) — H2 2026: 2.00% + 8 = 10.00%. THE REFERENCE TRAP THIS RECORD EXISTS TO AVOID: the udlånsrente is NOT the Nationalbank rate served as this API's dk policy-rate (the foliorente/indskudsbevisrente, 1.85% from the same 12 June 2026 decision) — deriving from that series would understate the morarente by 0.15 points; the Nationalbank currently holds a 0.15-point spread between the two, but the spread is policy, not law. For commercial and public-authority claims courts may only raise, never lower, the rate (§ 1 stk. 4), and a fixed DKK 310 recovery-cost compensation applies to commercial debts. The margin was raised from 7 to 8 points by lov nr 1244/2012 implementing Directive 2011/7/EU. RE-VERIFY at each half-year fixing (early January / early July) against the Nationalbank's official interest rates.
