What this value means
One rate for money claims across the law of obligations — civil and commercial alike — and the same rate carries a judgment (procesrente). It is 10.00% from 1 July 2026, up from 9.75% which applied from 1 January 2026. HALF-YEARLY SNAPSHOT, NOT A LIVE TRACKER: § 5 fixes the reference to Nationalbanken's official lending rate as it stood ON 1 January and ON 1 July. Nationalbanken raised the lending rate to 2.00% on 12 June 2026, but that move did not change the morarente until 1 July — a rate change inside a half-year is ignored until the next turn. Setter: no decree is issued; the figure follows arithmetically from the Nationalbank rate on the fixing date. § 5, stk. 2 lets the Minister of Justice vary the rate every second year after negotiation with Danmarks Nationalbank, but the supplement can never be set below 8 percentage points, so 8 is a floor. § 5, stk. 3 lets a court order a higher or lower rate where special circumstances justify it. TRAP FOR OLD CLAIMS: the 8-point supplement applies to claims falling due on or after 1 March 2013; before that date the supplement was 7 points, so a legacy claim must be split at 1 March 2013. Commercial invoices: Denmark implements the EU Late Payment Directive inside the same renteloven, so the PERCENTAGE is identical, but the commercial regime adds the fixed recovery compensation and its own default triggers and is served in our late-payment-interest product — use that product for a B2B or B2G invoice. NEXT FIXING: 1 January 2027, on Nationalbanken's lending rate as it stands that day.
