MARTIAL LAW — READ FIRST. Part 6 of Article 6 of Law No. 2136-IX of 15.03.2022 'Про організацію трудових відносин в умовах воєнного стану' provides verbatim: «У період дії воєнного стану не застосовуються норми статті 53, частини першої статті 65, частин третьої - п'ятої статті 67, статей 71, 73, 78-1 Кодексу законів про працю України». Article 73 is one of the suspended articles, and the current text of Art. 73 itself carries the editorial note «У період дії воєнного стану не застосовуються норми статті 73 згідно із Законом № 2136-IX від 15.03.2022». Consequence for payroll: while martial law is in force these dates do NOT create a day off, the working-time norm for the month is NOT reduced by them, the pre-holiday shortening of the working day (Art. 53) does not apply, and work performed on them is NOT premium-rated as holiday work — the employer decides whether to work. Martial law has run continuously since 24 February 2022 (Presidential Decree No. 64/2022, approved by Law No. 2102-IX) and has been extended about every 90 days; the extension in force at confirmation runs to 31 October 2026 (Verkhovna Rada vote of 14 July 2026; Law No. 4928-IX approving the President's decree — that extension law itself could NOT be read in the official text because the Rada portal is unreachable from here, so treat the end date as indicative and the fact of martial law as established). Art. 73 revives automatically when martial law ends; this series therefore states what the statutory calendar IS, with the suspension flagged. THE 2023 REFORM — BRIEF CORRECTION: the reforming statute is Law No. 3258-IX of 14.07.2023 (in force 30 July 2023), NOT Law No. 2983-IX as the launching brief stated. Per its own text, Law 3258-IX (a) deleted абзац третій частини першої — '7 січня - Різдво Христове' — so Julian-calendar Christmas is no longer a public holiday; (b) recast абзац восьмий as '15 липня - День Української Державності', moving Statehood Day from 28 July; (c) recast абзац десятий as '1 жовтня - День захисників і захисниць України', moving Defenders Day from 14 October; (d) entered '25 грудня - Різдво Христове' in the святкові list; and (e) in частина друга deleted 7 січня from the religious non-working days and entered 25 грудня there. Separately, Law No. 3107-IX of 29.05.2023 (in force 15 June 2023) replaced 9 травня (День перемоги над нацизмом) with '8 травня - День пам'яті та перемоги над нацизмом у Другій світовій війні 1939-1945 років'. NOTE that 8 березня survives the reform and is still styled 'Міжнародний жіночий день' in the statute. CURRENT STATUTORY LIST (частина перша, nine fixed dates): 1 січня; 8 березня; 1 травня; 8 травня; 28 червня; 15 липня; 24 серпня; 1 жовтня; 25 грудня. NON-WORKING RELIGIOUS DAYS (частина друга): one Sunday for Пасха, one Sunday for Трійця, and 25 грудня. 2026 MOVABLE DATES: Orthodox Pascha falls on 12 April 2026 and Трійця (Pascha + 49 days) on 31 May 2026 — both computed on the Julian Paschalion, so they differ from Western Easter (5 April 2026); both fall on Sundays by construction and add no weekday off even in peacetime. 2026 WEEKDAYS: 1 Jan Thu, 8 Mar SUNDAY, 1 May Fri, 8 May Fri, 28 Jun SUNDAY, 15 Jul Wed, 24 Aug Mon, 1 Oct Thu, 25 Dec Fri. Ukraine has NO statutory rule transferring a holiday that falls on a weekend to the following Monday — the Cabinet's annual 'перенесення робочих днів' recommendations are advisory and were not issued for wartime years. Art. 73 also entitles members of registered non-Orthodox confessions to up to three days off a year for their major feasts, to be worked back. ACCESS PROBLEM: zakon.rada.gov.ua is unreachable from this location; Art. 73 and Law 2136-IX were read from Internet Archive snapshots of the official pages (https://web.archive.org/web/20260606054141/https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/322-08 — редакція від 01.01.2026, підстава 4219-IX; and https://web.archive.org/web/20260217204150/https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/2136-20 — редакція від 04.12.2025). 2027 EXTENSION (2026-07-30): the statutory list of Art. 73 of the Labour Code as reformed by Law No. 3258-IX of 14 July 2023 (which abolished 7 January Christmas, moved Christmas to 25 December, Statehood Day to 15 July and Defenders Day to 1 October). Fixed feasts follow the Gregorian reckoning, but Pascha is still computed on the Julian paschalion, so Easter is 2 May 2027 and Trinity 20 June 2027. CRITICAL CAVEAT: under Art. 6 of Law No. 2136-IX of 15 March 2022, Art. 73 does NOT apply for the duration of martial law — during that period there is no paid day off, no shortened pre-holiday day and no weekend transfer. Martial law has been extended repeatedly (the extension current at 30 July 2026 runs to 31 October 2026) and whether it persists into 2027 is unknown, so the notional weekend transfers are deliberately NOT served: this list is the statutory calendar, and actual observance depends on whether martial law has ended. Verification note: zakon.rada.gov.ua was unreachable on 2026-07-30.
