Non-working state and religious holidays for calendar year 2026 under the Zakon o državnim i drugim praznicima u Republici Srbiji ('Službeni glasnik RS' br. 43/2001, 101/2007, 92/2011). Serbia's religious holidays follow the JULIAN (Orthodox) calendar, so Christmas is 7 January and Easter is the Orthodox Pascha, not the Western date.

STATUTE, NOT AN ANNUAL DECREE — Serbia's holidays are fixed by law and there is no yearly government calendar decision; the only thing that moves year to year is the Orthodox Easter date and the Sunday-substitution rule. Član 1: Sretenje – Dan državnosti is celebrated on 15 AND 16 February. Član 1a: Nova godina 1–2 January, Praznik rada 1–2 May, Dan pobede 9 May, Dan primirja u Prvom svetskom ratu 11 November. Član 2: religious holidays celebrated republic-wide are the first day of Božić (7 January) and the Vaskršnji praznici 'počev od Velikog petka zaključno sa drugim danom Vaskrsa' — a four-day block from Good Friday through Easter Monday. Član 3: on state and religious holidays state bodies, companies and other organisations do not work, EXCEPT Dan pobede (9 May), which is explicitly 'praznuje se radno' — celebrated but worked; continuous-process operations and essential services may also work. Član 3a (added 2007): if a date of a STATE holiday falls on a Sunday, the first following working day is non-working — this applies only to the state holidays of Čl. 1/1a, not to the religious holidays of Član 2. 2026 APPLICATION: 15 February 2026 is a Sunday, so Tuesday 17 February is a substitute non-working day and Serbia gets a three-day block 15–17 February. No other state holiday date falls on a Sunday in 2026 (1 Jan Thu, 2 Jan Fri, 16 Feb Mon, 1 May Fri, 2 May Sat, 9 May Sat, 11 Nov Wed) — note that a Saturday date triggers NO substitution under Član 3a, only a Sunday does. ORTHODOX EASTER 2026 = 12 April (Julian 30 March + 13 days), NOT the Western Easter of 5 April 2026 — the two do not coincide in 2026 (they did in 2025). So the Easter block is Fri 10 April to Mon 13 April. Član 4 gives INDIVIDUAL employees the right not to work on their own confession's days: Orthodox — the first day of their krsna slava (a personal family patron-saint day, different for every household, so not enumerable in a calendar); Catholics and other Christians — Christmas and Easter Friday-to-Monday per their own calendar (25 December 2026, and 3–6 April 2026 for Western Easter); Muslims — the first day of Ramazanski bajram and the first day of Kurban bajram; Jews — the first day of Yom Kippur. These are individual entitlements, not general non-working days, so they are excluded from the array above. Član 5 lists WORKING commemorative days (no day off): Sveti Sava 27 January, Dan sećanja na žrtve holokausta 22 April, Vidovdan 28 June, Dan sećanja na srpske žrtve u Drugom svetskom ratu 21 October.
