Sweden Late-payment interest (dröjsmålsränta)
Sweden Late-payment interest (dröjsmålsränta) is 10 percent, in force since 1 Jul 2026. Last checked against the official source on 10 Aug 2026.
Sweden's statutory default interest under räntelagen 6 §: the Riksbank's referensränta plus 8 percentage points — 10.00% for the second half of 2026. Set periodically rather than derived, because the referensränta rounds the policy rate UP to the nearest half point.

What this value means
One dröjsmålsränta for civil, consumer and commercial monetary claims alike (courts may moderate for personal hardship, 8 §): the referensränta + 8 percentage points — H2 2026: 2.00% + 8 = 10.00%. THE ROUNDING TRAP THIS RECORD EXISTS TO AVOID: the referensränta is a DISTINCT rate formally decided by the Riksbank each half-year, equal to the policy rate at the last main refinancing transaction before the half-year ROUNDED UP to the nearest half point (9 §) — with the policy rate at 1.75%, the referensränta is 2.00%, so deriving from the raw policy-rate series would understate the rate by 0.25 points whenever the policy rate is off a half-point step. The Riksbank publishes the referensränta decision in late June and late December; it is also gazetted as a tillkännagivande in SFS. RE-VERIFY at each half-year fixing.
