What this value means

EU-harmonised statutory interest for late payment in commercial transactions = ECB main refinancing rate (snapshotted on 1 January / 1 July) + 8 percentage points (Directive 2011/7/EU, art. 2). This is the Directive MINIMUM and the figure the European Commission publishes per member state; national transposition may set a HIGHER rate for some transaction types. Because it is a half-yearly snapshot, the value tracks the MRO as of the half-year start, not today's live MRO. Derived live from this country's ecb-main-refinancing-rate series. Implemented in Slovakia by Commercial Code §369 with Government Regulation No. 21/2013 Coll., which offers the creditor TWO mutually exclusive commercial options: a variable rate of the ECB rate on the first day of the half-year of default plus 8 percentage points, fixed for that half-year (10.40% for H2 2026), or a fixed rate of the ECB rate on the first day of default plus 9 percentage points, fixed for the whole default period (11.40% from 2026-07-01). The series value follows the +8 variant, which is the Directive minimum. Slovakia's separate CIVIL rate under Government Regulation No. 87/1995 Coll. §1 is the ECB rate plus 5 percentage points (7.40%), which is higher than the +3 used by most euro-area countries. The Ministry of Justice publishes the authoritative table and confirmed 10.15% for H1 2026 on the then-current 2.15% reference rate.
