What this value means

The Netherlands has no national policy rate. Monetary policy is set by the ECB Governing Council for the whole euro area; DNB implements it. The deposit facility rate (DFR) is served here because since the September 2024 operational-framework change the DFR is the ECB's de facto steering rate — the rate at which the ECB steers short-term money market rates (€STR). The official ECB key-rates table was re-loaded on 2026-07-20 and shows, with effect from 17 June 2026: deposit facility 2.25%, main refinancing operations 2.40%, marginal lending facility 2.65%. This reversed part of the 2024-25 easing cycle; the DFR had been at 2.00% since 11 June 2025. IDENTICAL value must be served for DE, FR, IT, ES, and all other euro area members — any divergence between euro area country files is a data error, not a real difference. The next Governing Council monetary policy meeting falls after this confirmation date, so 2.25% is the rate in force on 2026-07-20. If you need the MRO rate instead (used for some statutory reference-rate purposes in Dutch civil law), it is 2.40%. VERIFICATION CAVEAT: the rate levels and the 17 June 2026 effective date are confirmed directly on the ECB rate table; the narrative around the decision (the 11 June 2026 meeting date, the inflation-pressure motivation, and Eurosystem staff HICP projections of 3.0% for 2026, 2.3% for 2027 and 2.0% for 2028) is reported here as context and was not re-read from the ECB press release or projections publication in this pass.
