What this value means

PLN 4 806 gross per month, in force from 1 January 2026, read verbatim from § 1 of the regulation in the Dziennik Ustaw. Poland DOES have a genuine national statutory minimum wage — the lead was correct — and it is a MONTHLY amount, which is the primary legal quantity; that is the opposite of the Netherlands, where only an hourly floor exists. NO SECOND REVISION IN 2026: the lead correctly notes that the Act allows a mid-year uprating, but it is conditional — art. 3 of the 2002 Act requires two amounts (1 January and 1 July) ONLY when the forecast CPI for the coming year is at least 105 %. For 2026 that threshold was not met, and the regulation itself sets exactly one amount for the whole year (compare Dz. U. 2023 poz. 1893, which visibly sets two, PLN 4 242 from 1 January and PLN 4 300 from 1 July 2024). A search of the Dziennik Ustaw for 2026-01-01 to 2026-07-22 found no further minimum-wage instrument, so PLN 4 806 stands for the entire year and the 1 July 2026 date passed with no change. SEPARATE STATUTORY HOURLY FLOOR — DO NOT CONFLATE: § 2 of the same regulation sets a MINIMALNA STAWKA GODZINOWA of PLN 31,40 gross per hour. That figure does NOT apply to employees; it applies to persons engaged under civil-law contracts of mandate (umowa zlecenia, art. 734 k.c.) and contracts for the provision of services (art. 750 k.c.), and to self-employed single-person contractors performing such contracts. Serving PLN 31,40 as 'the Polish minimum wage' misdescribes it, and dividing PLN 4 806 by a nominal month of working hours produces an arithmetic construction with no legal standing (the monthly amount is owed regardless of how many working hours the month happens to contain). WHAT IS AND IS NOT INCLUDED: the figure is GROSS, before income tax and before the employee-side social insurance and health contributions; net take-home is materially lower. Under art. 6 ust. 4-5 of the Act, certain components are excluded when testing whether pay reaches the minimum — the jubilee award (nagroda jubileuszowa), retirement/disability severance, overtime pay, night-work allowance, length-of-service allowance (dodatek za staz pracy) and, from 2024, the special-working-conditions allowance — so an employer may not count these towards the floor. The pre-2024 practice of counting the seniority allowance is a common source of stale advice. STACKING EFFECTS: the minimum wage drives a large set of derived statutory amounts (minimum sickness benefit base, the ceiling on enforcement deductions, the minimum compensation for workplace mobbing or discrimination, and ZUS preferential contribution bases), so a stale value propagates widely. There is no regional, sectoral or age-based variation and no youth sub-minimum: the figure is uniform across Poland and applies from the first day of employment for all employees (the former 80 % first-year-of-work rate was abolished in 2017). Collective agreements may set higher floors but never lower.
