What this value means
July 2026 FLASH (szybki szacunek): CPI +3,0% year-on-year (index 103,0), +0,8% month-on-month — a marked jump from June's +2,5%. The full July release with detailed tables lands around the 15th of the following month and can revise the flash by ±0,1pp; GUS's own cadence note is that both carry the same headline and only the flash can move. Re-verify against the full print when it appears. At 3,0% the reading sits exactly on the NBP target midpoint's upper tolerance shoulder (target 2,5% +/- 1pp). THIS IS THE NATIONAL CPI, NOT HICP. Poland's EU-harmonised HICP is compiled by GUS for Eurostat on a different basket and weighting and reads differently every month; euro-area comparisons, ECB commentary and Eurostat tables use HICP, whereas Polish statutory indexation, the NBP inflation target and most domestic contracts reference this national CPI. Two further Polish-specific series are routinely confused with this one and must not be substituted: inflacja bazowa (core inflation, several variants) is published by NBP, not GUS, and appears a day or two after the GUS release; and the pensioner-household price index used for the annual waloryzacja of pensions is a separate GUS computation with its own basket. CLASSIFICATION BREAK IN JANUARY 2026: from the January 2026 data GUS publishes on the revised COICOP 2018 classification; year-on-year rates were reconstructed on the new basis and remain comparable, but division-level series are not continuous across the break. ACCESS QUIRKS: each monthly release lives at a URL with an opaque incrementing id and the flash-estimate series uses a different id space (July's flash is ',21,43'); the downloadable XLSX filenames embed the Polish locative form of the month name (w lipcu), so they are not mechanically guessable from the month number.
